Ruth Kotary
Ruth E. Jones 61, of Taberg, NY passed away Tuesday January 28, 2020 at the Abraham House, Rome, NY after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Rome, NY on June 21, 1958 a daughter of Howard & Ruth Kessler Kotary and was a 1978 graduate of Holland Patent High School. She was previously married to Stephen D. Jones. Ruth served as a dedicated rural route mail carrier for the Camden Post Office for over 30 years. She was a longtime member of Meeker-O’Rourke American Legion Post # 1309. Ruth previously served as Past President for the Oneida County American Legion Ladies Auxiliary for two years and county chaplain, served as the children and youth chairman, and was current chaplain of #1309, the New York State 8-40 Chapeau, and Chairman for the Veteran’s Emergency Fund. She loved to be outdoors, gardening, riding motorcycles, enjoying her pets, and especially cherished spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are her daughter, Anissa & Peter LaMonica, Lee Center, NY, her son,
Josh Jones, Charlotte, NC, her life partner of nearly 20 years, Steven Aldrich,
Taberg, NY, two step daughters, Corrie Aldrich, Denver, CO, Kylie Aldrich, Rome,
NY, three grandchildren, Levi and Brielle LaMonica and Piper Lemmon, her animal
companions, Sadie Mae and Sam, one brother, two sisters, several nieces and
nephews, and a longtime best friend who was always at Ruth’s side, Karen Palmer
and family. Besides her parents, Ruth was predeceased by a sister.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Doctors Vanderhoof and
Mckay, the Fourth Floor nursing staff at Oneida HealthCare, Hospice & Palliative
Care, and all the caregivers at The Abraham House, Rome, NY for their loving
care and tender compassion bestowed upon Ruth and her family.
Calling Hours will be held from 3-6:00pm Friday from LaRobardiere Funeral Home,
Inc., 109 Main Street, Camden, NY followed by funeral services at 6:00 pm.
Spring burial will take place in Maple Hill Cemetery, Taberg, NY. Memorial
contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to The Abraham House, 417 N.
Washington St., Rome, NY 13440.
