Obituary of Edward J.. Kotary

Edward J. “Ezz” Kotary, 82, of Floyd, passed away at home on Tuesday, June 4, 2019.  Born in Rome on November 2, 1936 he was the son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Crowfoot) Kotary.  On January 6, 1963 he was united in marriage to Barbara Quinn.  She passed away on March 26, 2006. 

Edward worked at Revere Copper and Brass for 30 years.  He was a member of St. Leo’s Church in Holland Patent and the Stanwix Veterans and Men’s Club.  Ed was very active and played many sports including golf, bowling and wheelchair basketball. 

He is survived by three sons, Edward (Michelle) Kotary of Stittville, Timothy Kotary of Floyd and Richard (Shannon) Kotary of Floyd; a sister, Shirley Plourde of Floyd; three brothers, Sonny Kotary of Rome, John (Wilma) Kotary of Floyd and Robert (Claire) Kotary of Floyd; seven grandchildren, Amber, Zack, Timothy, Aubree, Cassidy, Xavier and Trevor; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was predeceased by a sister, Velma; and two brothers, Joseph and Adam.

Ed’s family would like thank Hospice and Palliative Care, the Floyd Fire Department and special caregivers Lauralee and Brenda and his daughter-in-law Shannon, for their wonderful care and compassion. 

A Celebration of Ed’s life will be held on Saturday, June 8th at 2:00 p.m. at Casey’s Tavern, 7749 River Rd., Rome.  There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ed’s memory may be made to the Floyd Fire Department, 8367 Old Floyd Rd., Rome NY 13440. 

Arrangements have been entrusted to Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome.
