Robert William Cole

 

The Gettysburg Times January 10, 1954

A 3C Robert W Cole, 23-year-old son of Mr. And Mrs. Richard M Cole, 51 East Stevens St., died suddenly at the Andrews Air Force Base, near Washington, Tuesday afternoon at 1:00. He was on a stop over flight enroute to the Philadelphia Naval Hospital from a hospital in Japan where he had undergone surgery.

……………..Young Cole was born in Gettysburg September 10, 1931, the second son and third of ten children of Richard M and Catherine B (Codori) Cole. He was educated at St. Francis Xavier Parochial Grade School and graduated from Delone Catholic High School, McSherrystown, in June,1949.

During his school years he was a part-time employee of the People’s Drug Store and after his graduation from high school he was employed at the Naval Depot at Mechanicsburg in a Civil Service capacity for a year.


……………..The deceased is survived by his parents and the following sister and brothers;
Mrs. Robert E O’Brien, Lancaster; Richard C., a student at Gettysburg college; Thomas P., employed by the United Telephone Company here; Kenneth J., who is on a 14 day leave here after completing basic training at the Bainbridge Naval Training Station; William A., and Edwin M, students at Delone High, David L., James M., and Philip M.


Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 9:00 with a requiem high mass in St. Francis Xavier’s Catholic Church, Rev. Anthony F Kane, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church cemetery, in Buchanan Valley.
